Reads in the Woods
A book club, and the small site that runs it. Put in your email and we'll send you a link — there's no password to remember.
How a round works
- Someone hosts. They pick a category — a genre, a mood, a decade, whatever they fancy.
- Everyone puts a book forward and marks which nights they can make, in the same visit.
- One book is picked. Usually drawn at random, every book with an equal chance. Sometimes the host asks first which ones people would happily read. Either way the site keeps the record, and says which it was.
- We meet, and rate it — chilis for how steamy it was, stars for whether it was any good. Two different questions.
What happens to your details
- Your name and email, and nothing else. No date of birth, no address, no phone number — the site never asks and has nowhere to put them.
- Email is only ever club business. Sign-in links, what got drawn, when we're meeting, the odd note from whoever's hosting. Nothing is sold, shared or sent anywhere else.
- Your address stays hidden by default. Every email goes out one at a time so nobody sees anyone else's. The one exception is a message the host deliberately sends as reply-all, and you can opt out of appearing in that from your own page — you'll still get the message.
- No tracking, no ads, no analytics. One cookie, which is the thing that keeps you signed in for 90 days. That's the lot.
- Leaving takes it with you. Ask whoever runs the club and your details come off the roster. What you rated stays on the Shelf as part of the club's history.
Not getting in?
It's invite-only — the link only works for an address already on the roster, so a typo or a different address from the one you were added with will quietly get you nowhere. Ask whoever invited you to check which address they used.
